non-weekend

09th Jul 2004blog entries, cascades experences

Well, its Friday afternoon…we are leading up to another non-weekend weekend. I’ll have four groups coming in starting this afternoon. It shouldn’t be to bad, most of them are fairly small. I tried harder to get involved in the life of timber rock this week. I played a few night games, however I have yet to “cabin buddy”, I was thinking about it for next week…during high school camp. The kids that are here right now are in jr. high, although a lot of them I remember from when they were in elementary school. There are a few kids here this week that were in my cabin back 3 summers ago. It is really weird to see a 3 year growth jump in a 15 year old, from 12. My camper that locked himself in the bathroom is here this week, and it sounds like he has done a lot of growing up and maturing over the past few years…but he is still definitely himself.

I’ve decided to take on a new challenge with my job at camp….I decided to get the ball rolling on Monday night staff worship, and I didn’t just get it rolling…..I decided that I should coordinate it, and I decided to really put some time and effort into it. I don’t know why I chose to make it hard…I could have easily talked to a few people about leading worship, and that would have been it, however I wanted to make sure that it would be different and better this year. I’ve started publicizing the event with vauge posters that don’t offer a whole lot of information.

Sunday I’ll put up posters that tell in specific what we are doing, and where it will be. I’m hoping to change the venue every few weeks, starting off with some acoustic-coffee house type worship this week. I’m looking to decorate with couches, lamps, and candles. Other weeks I would like to take everyone out into the middle of the woods, or other random places that would be conducive to worship. It should be really fun, and hopefully everyone will get “renewed”. We’ve got band rehearsal tonight, we will see how it all goes!
