Leif Erickson Day.

111th Oct 2004blog entries, nome., station life

I realized this morning that it was Columbus day. I also realized that it means nothing to me besides getting frustrated that the mail doesn’t come. I’d rather celebrate Leif Erickson day, but that will never happen…..because the Scandinavian man is repressed.

Its going to be a short week in the office, Monday is already over, and I leave to join Lydia in Anchorage on Wednesday morning. It doesn’t feel like I need a break yet, but I’m sure it will be good to have one. After a whole month in Nome & the surroundings, it will be very nice to be in a “real” city for a few days. I’m getting excited for the culture shock when we go back to Seattle! However, I was walking around Nome this evening, on my way down to Front Street, and I couldn’t help but realize how much I already like it here. It’s pretty cool to be able to walk anywhere in a town, and to have strangers wave at you.

Today I had another hard hitting interview with a Washington Politician. I had Senator Lisa Murkowski call in, and in a matter of 27 minutes I managed to ask about four questions. She was quite the talker. But it was pretty interesting.

I’ll have to delay the big interview announcement until tomorrow; I wasn’t able to nail down a date yet with this guest. They are great about returning calls, so I should be able to get things set tomorrow…although it probably won’t happen until after I get back from Anchorage next week. It’s big guys….this mystery guest has interviewed the likes of: Bill Murray, Jeff Probst, Dennis Miller, Ben Stiller, and Jon Stewart…….no its not Bill Maher.

I just finished movie number 11 since Lydia left last Sunday. Sad but true. While it is quiet around the house, I’ve been able to catch up on movies like a madman. I’ve yet to rent a movie that I’ve already seen… and you can’t forget that…*I have no TV*.

Until Tomorrow…..

Hey Josh! Out of overwhelming curiousity, what movies have you seen, and any you’d recommend? There’s so few out in the theater right now that it’d be cool to know of some good rentals…
