rain, rain on my face
Right now its raining out, and it has been all day long. Its not a nice downpour, it’s a Seattle rain. I’d say its pretty “Seattle” out right now. I still think its pretty crazy that a few weeks ago we had over 3 inches of snow for about 5 days, I was pretty sure that it was going to stick around for the rest of the winter. But now its about 40-45 degrees outside and no sign of snow in sight.
So, as I mentioned on Thursday, I wasn’t sure what could be more exciting after interviewing a former Alaska State Governor. A phone conversation confirmed that with the confirmation of a Monday interview with Lisa Murkowski, the other candidate for US Senate. So, by noon tomorrow I’ll have interviewed a Governor, and a current US Senator? For a wanna-be hack journalist, I was pretty stoaked. I didn’t think anything could beat that, and its all down hill from here on out. Then I got another phone call Friday. Its much bigger than a senator. I’ve watched this person on tv since highschool, it’s someone who hosts their own late night talk show, and who is very very funny. I’ll let you know all the details when I solidify them tomorrow morning.
This weekend, the second in my Lydia-less weekends, went pretty well. Friday I spent a lot of time talking with Jamie, the KICY volunteer who was pretty much doing what I am now before I got here. He hosted the Edge, and was the FM music director. He is a really great guy, and was able to give me lots of great advice, in a very “non-interfering” way. Neil, Jamie, & I decided to go out to Safety Friday evening. Saturday we went on a hike for a few hours, and topped it off with a dinner at Fat Freddys (hamburger place).
I went to church this morning, and came back with a mission to clean, do laundry, dishes, and also to relax! I did all of the above! I’ve rented quite a few movies over the past week….. I can’t remember them all right now, but I think I’m on 9….maybe 12. (I found the sweet deal over at Hansen’s).
On Wednesday I’m flying down to Anchorage to spend time with Lydia as she finishes up her training. We will get to see Sarah play volleyball at UAA as well! She flies back home on Saturday evening, and I fly up on Sunday morning.
