summer 2004? Check.

08th Sep 2004blog entries, cascades experences, moving

well, that’s it…camp is over. Its pretty hard to believe that our summer has come to an end. On top of that, tonight was our going away party, and we said some pretty tough goodbyes to some really close friends. I told a few people tonight that I still don’t feel like anything has really set in yet, but I think its starting to. I can’t believe that before this week is up, Lydia & I will be in Alaska.

I know over the past month I haven’t been the most faithful of ‘bloggers’ and for that I’m sorry. Our last month at camp was really great…here are a few highlights:

Matt & Nicole came out, right at the beginning of August, pretty much right after my last Blog entry. Matt spoke to the staff right before the last week of timber rock. It was a great weekend with them, and it’s all documented in pictures that were posted long ago (click here ).

That same week, my dad came and visited, on a Wednesday. He graciously took the day off work and helped us wire nisqually center. It was very fun, and while we didn’t complete all the work that day, we managed to get it finished during KCC Family camp a few weeks later.

It was pretty crazy to have all of our staff slowly leave the O-team, and we would get random counselors in to help us for a few days at a time. As the weeks went by we slid into a normality with our newly forged team, but also found ourselves missing our original group.

During Sunrise Ranch high school week, I spoke at chapel! That was a fun experience, minus the time when I said something off of the tip of my tongue that I wish I could have retracted. This is why you take notes up with you…and stick to them! Later that evening I played the ranch night game “catch the minis”. It was great, I even contributed to the fall of a high school boy who for a few minutes thought that he broke his ankle…but he was ok within a few hours.

All during August we had very large guest groups. It was very interesting to watch the different groups and how they handled their children. During the middle week I struggled a bit with being a servant to all people. I developed a small attitude/chip on my shoulder. I quickly recognized what had happened, and was able to work on and pray about the situation.

We had Kent Covenant Family camp out at camp the last weekend in August, and that was VERY fun to host! I felt like I knew everyone, and it was great to have Kent friends & family around that weekend.

I think that is about all that went on over the last month at camp…again, I wish I had been able to keep it updated. Better luck from now on! I’ll be posting more tomorrow once I get some sleep.
