Psalm 64

019th Jul 2004blog entries, cascades experences

checkin’ in tonight right before I goto bed. Today was a pretty good day…although very long. It started as I rolled out of bed, and decided to take a morning shower, its very unlike me to take a show in the morning opposed to the evening, but it sounded nice. As I walked outside to start the truck & wait for Lydia, I grabbed my newest edition of USA Today that was conveniently waiting for me at my door! We went down to nisqually at 7:04 (a little late). During devos I split the group up into guys and girls so that we could get some real honest answers for the questions that I had planned. Question #1: Why do you feel that God called you to camp? Question #2: Where are you right now in your walk with God? Question #4: Where do you hope to be at the end of the summer? These questions were posed to the high school group the week before by the speaker, and I thought they would be great for our o-team. Rob & Afleck told me about them during our camp summer leadership meeting on Friday. Everyone in the guys group seemed to answer pretty honestly, and it was good to hear what people had to say.

After breakfast, we all went and started cleaning out lakeside, we hung out a little more than usual during the cleaning, and afterwards as well. We went right up until lunch time for the most part. I went up to the shop after eating my lunch and started cleaning out my truck. Once I got there, I was reminded of our jjjr bible study, which had to be cancelled for the afternoon. I was glad to learn that I wasn’t the only one who had forgotten about it!!! 2:30 rolled around and it came time for me to meet up with my SALT that I was asked to mentor for the week. It was a kid that I knew from church, and who was in my cabin when I was a counselor. I wasn’t sure how it would go, but things went pretty smoothly, and we had a good time together. He went with me up to the waterslide where we finished some of our conversations.

As I drove up to Nisqually after the waterslide, I saw a fire truck sitting out front. I learned that there was a forest fire across the lake, and that while the firemen were nervous about taking the truck out there, Alan decided he could take the camp water truck out himself (it’s a Semi). It worked, and the fire was put out.

Dinner tonight was a real treat, it was a BBQ at Alan’s house. We all gathered there for lots of barbequed things (brauts, veggies, chicken, etc..). I took off right before the food was served so that I could go down and finish preparing for Monday night worship. I had put no where near the effort or time into “the renewal project” this week as I did last time, and I was feeling pretty guilty. I got song sheets made up, and picked out a decent sized set list. I also hadn’t worked quick enough at getting a testimony like I had planned, so I prepared group praying in the ACTS formation (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication). Monday night worship went pretty well, I was happy with the turnout. We then came home, and I worked on uploading pictures! I think I’m going to escape to bed now…lydia has been there for a while. Maybe I can catch some “loveline” on the radio before I goto sleep.
