For the past two days Our espresso girl is gone at freshman orientation over at CWU, during her absence I’ve been filling the position of both host & temporary barista. I did the job for about 2 hours during family camp, and I was really unsure about my performance. I was getting about 2% feedback rate..so I was positive that they were all being nice and not telling me how awful I was (as much as it is possible to screw up lattes). I had two, 4 hour shifts over the span of this Thursday & Friday and I wasn’t sure how I was going to do. It turned out to be a piece of cake. Baristas are just like sound guys, it looks hard and intimidating, but almost anyone could do it if they tried hard enough. I found that I really was able to perform well, (sometimes under pressure). It was a fun and new experience for me.
