monday night

012th Jul 2004blog entries, cascades experences

After two pratice sessions, hours of planning in my head, an afternoon of prepping PowerPoint, and about 40 promotional posters plastered all over the shop, kitchen & tack room, it came down to the time for Monday night worship. I dragged a ‘love seat’, a huge padded chair, & a coffee table down to nisqually from the staff lounge. I also got another smaller table, and a lamp from the gift shop. I scattered candles all over the place, and turned off the lights. We practiced our set, almost dropping one song at the last minute after not being able to get it right after a few minutes. We let people in to the dining room (where we were all setup) right at 9:00pm. After about 10 minutes of hanging out & coffee we started. 18 minutes later we were done. I had wanted it to be longer, I wanted more songs, I wanted to pray out loud better, I wanted to have someone give their testimony, I wanted to wait until everyone got there before we started. But it was over in 18 minutes. It went really well, and I think some people were really able to sit back and worship God. But I decided that as much as I planned, I also needed to take it easy next time. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect each time…but it does need to be focused on God, and providing people with an outlet to sit back & praise him. Next week I think I’ll take everyone into the woods…..and not move a sofa.
