day off

01st Jun 2004blog entries, cascades experences

sorry to end that other post so abruptly, I typed the whole thing on my pocket pc over the span of a few hours… the weekend went well, however like I mentioned, it did take us a little bit of getting used to. I found that on Saturday morning I was starting to “feel it”. I was in the camp zone. It was really great to be back, and it was awesome to start changing our mindset. It was hard at first to be genuinely nice to people, and it was hard at first to not do things, like emptying 10 trash cans begrudgingly. I can already tell it will be a challenging summer, but it will be awesome. Its going to be weird to not be involved in the program aspects of camp, its what I’m used to the most, both as a camper and as a staff my previous two summers. But it will be good for me to be a “behind the scenes” guy, and to build intentional relationships with other people. I’m sure that God will use Lydia and I in ways we cannot even imagine now.. both this summer, and over the next 15 months. I’m also *positive* that he is going to teach us things, and I’m trying to prepare myself for things that I know will be hard. – pictures of memorial day family camp

Today Lydia & I are on our day off, we left camp around 3:20 yesterday afternoon (immediately after our guest group took off) and we came straight to the Sommermans. We had some great kabobs, then took off with Janell to Folklife Festival in seattle, where we would meet up with Hannah, Heather, & Mark Stephens. We had a magnificent time watching all the crazy hippies. Right now we are running errands and getting stuff done, because tonight we will drive back to camp and start work at 8am. I’m not sure exactly what we will be doing this week, probably just setup type stuff, then this upcoming weekend there is a “girls on horses” retreat that Lydia & her mom are speaking at. I’m not sure if I’ll try the palm pilot blog again, it didn’t really work out to well yesterday…but we’ll see what happens.
